Outdoor First Aid Couse
26/11/2020
Some might ask what some of our staff were doing last Saturday, outside in the wind and the rain, rolling around in the mud! Some might think them a little mad!
In reality they were taking part in on one of our bepoke Outdoor Pediatric First Aid Courses. All our staff have to pass this externally accredited course, in addition to passing the normal first aid course that Ofsted requires all nursery staff to pass.
We have specifically designed this course, because our children spend, so much time away from Nursery, outside in natural environments, including our dedicated Forest School facility. The course focusses on how to stay calm, work as a team and administer first aid outside, regardless of location or weather conditions.

The benefits of outdoor learning
We passionately believe that children experience a huge range of benefits when they are playing and learning outside in natural environments. The natural world provides an infinite amount more learning resources and opportunities that can ever be provided in a single room or playground. This why we have purchased a completely secure and private nine acre field in Denholme, which it is in the process of developing into our own forest school facility, where children can be taken to enjoy playing and learning all day in a totally natural environment. We are not alone in believing this as a large number of studies show that children benefit from learning outdoors in many ways.
