Green Day
17/05/2020
We would like to thank all our children for making our own Green Day celebration last week such a fun day.
We did everything green, made lots of green rainbows, played with green objects in water, made green handprints and made green pictures. We even made green pizzas and biscuits and ate them outside in the fresh air.
We would like to say a special thanks to all those of our parents who currently cannot bring their children into Nursery, but who made such an effort to send us so many green rainbows, pictures and handprints. We have mde a green heart out of all the green handprints that parents have sent us. This is now displayed in the Nursery Office window for all passing by to see.
We decided to create our own Green Day celebration for a number of reasons. These include, to celebrate our new name, to emphasis the green philosophy of the Nursery and to raise awareness of NF (neurofibromatosis) Day (17th of May) organised by Nerve Tumours UK. This organisation uses the colours green and blue to promote its work. Parents can find our more about the work of this organisation by simply visiting their website www.nervetumours.org.uk.

The benefits of outdoor learning
We passionately believe that children experience a huge range of benefits when they are playing and learning outside in natural environments. The natural world provides an infinite amount more learning resources and opportunities that can ever be provided in a single room or playground. This why we have purchased a completely secure and private nine acre field in Denholme, which it is in the process of developing into our own forest school facility, where children can be taken to enjoy playing and learning all day in a totally natural environment. We are not alone in believing this as a large number of studies show that children benefit from learning outdoors in many ways.
